The whichbox&trade idea grew out of our dissatisfaction with the status quo of the current Internet experience.
We live story-centric lives. We believe people are shaped by the stories they hear and the stories they create. Whether these stories are myths or instruction, at a very fundamental level, stories provide meaning for our lives.
However, most online content platforms feel like they are designed around technological capabilities, and not around the holistic, organic storytelling™ experience.
The current online experience is fraught with fragmented, unfulfilling experiences, and irrelevant connections for users and brands. Millions of Internet destinations are divided by creator, interest, type of media, and lack true interaction and connection.
Access to the incredible abundance of digital content on the Internet currently requires consumer knowledge of diverse media platforms and distribution outlets. It requires sophisticated filtering knowledge on the part of the end user to create relevant linkages between content domains.
This results in a chaotic user experience characterized by numerous redundant and irrelevant side journeys. It has led to increased market fragmentation that aggregates huge portions of the market in “idea bazaars” (sites with user submitted content) and publications (sites created through the traditional publishing process). Users are confronted by a confusing experience; niche content creators are at a loss how to engage new audiences in a way that generates optimum monetization for their content; brands are struggling to develop integrated marketing solutions that reach the right audience and build brand affinity.
